Michael Eul

Obituary of Michael Richard Eul

Michael Richard Eul of Grant township, Mn returned to his lord and savior on Friday, September 30, 2022. Gone too soon at 67, his life ended painlessly with great peace, surrounded by his loving wife Giuliana, and children following a sudden brain injury.

Mike grew up in Morris, MN. His childhood included activities such as Boy Scouting, helping out at Eul’s Hardware Hank, and rabble-rousing with his brothers. His early love of music led him to take on several paper routes, which allowed him to purchase his first trumpet, a Bach, still regarded an instrument of exceptional quality. He became a skilled musician, and had great pride in being a first chair musician for his high school band.

Mike attended the University Of Minnesota for electrical engineering, first the Morris campus, where he was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon, and later UM Twin Cities, where he was a member, and president of Theta Tau. He developed many close and lifelong friendships during these years.

Mike enjoyed his professional career in the field of electrical engineering, which led him to many interesting companies and opportunities. Early on, he was a passionate audiophile, and founded Eul speaker systems in Minneapolis. Later, he was at the forefront of many barcode scanning, audio amplification, and power supply technologies, over a dozen of which the patents could be credited to his work.

Following education and marriage, Mike settled in Grant, MN, a suburb of St. Paul in 1984, and together with family and friends, built a large and beautiful home set on 3.5 acres with his own hands and hammer. This home is where he would enjoy the rest of his life. He loved his home and land, and made it a cornerstone of his interests. Mike raised two sets of kids whom he enjoyed deeply. Eric and Jeff, and later Aaron, Jillian, and Jennifer. From forts, to snowmobiles, music and movies, he was a wonderful and loving father that always made the time for their interests. He instilled a sense of confidence and leadership in each of them, and saw them develop into successful and independent adults. He was a connoisseur of a good bonfire with family and friends, and loved cooking, grilling and entertaining on holidays or whenever. The cheese tray is the stuff of legends. His sense of joy when he spent time with anyone he loved was palpable. Mike was a devoted member of St. Jude of the Lake Catholic Church in Mahtomedi, MN and participated in weekly worship, as well as volunteer opportunities such as ushering.

Mike loved the lord Jesus, and felt his presence in all things through a lifelong and trusting relationship. Eternal rest grant unto him, o Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Love always, in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Ione Eul (Peterson), and Richard Eul, of Morris, MN.
